Mammoth Mountain ski patrollers Doug Wollum and Ben Blanton working with the canon the ski resort uses for avalanche control. The two are preparing the rounds used to fire into the snowpack after storms leave new snowfall. After the patrollers bomb an area, other patrollers ski the area to make sure it is safe for the resort's customers.
